Berber Desert Camp
The drive to the great dunes of Erg Chigaga is wonderful and you will exit and enter the desert via two ways (driving time off-piste 2-3hrs), so you’ll get to see more of the region – desert scrub, the Anti-Atlas mountains, a vast dry salt lake, Iriqui, (once on the Paris/Dakar route), desert stone (hamada), and of course the largest sand sea in Morocco.
The Berber desert camp is located at the base of the great dunes of Erg Chigaga, the tents encircled by smaller dunes for privacy.
The camp is made of the traditional Saharan ‘haimas’ tents. You will sleep in comfort (with beds, mattress, linens) and there are separate bathroom & toilet facilities on-site (even hot showers), maintained to a high standard. Evening entertainment is around the campfire (singing, and playing of traditional instruments) and you may bake fresh bread in the sand. The camp is staffed by our Berber colleagues from the region, who are rightly proud to welcome you to their Sahara.
